Hello! Thank you for joining me here at GeNienneSamuels.com! I’m thrilled and honored that you stopped by.
I’m a Virginia girl who spent most of her adult life in the Washington, DC area so I find myself on I-95 often.
I’m currently the In-Game Host for the NFL’s Washington Commanders and an evening news anchor at WTVR CBS6 in Richmond, VA… which also happens to be my hometown.
I joined the stellar team at CBS6 in January 2023 and have already made my mark in the community serving as an emcee, speaker, Grand Marshall, and special guest at numerous events. 2023 was the first time I ever submitted my work for a Capital Emmy Award. As a result, I’ve earned the honor of not only being nominated for multiple Capital Emmys but also winning my very first for Medical Reporter.
I’ve been in the entertainment and broadcasting industry for more than two decades as a freelance reporter, producer, anchor, host, and emcee. Before coming back to Richmond, I was the evening anchor and producer for an ABC affiliate news station in Southern West Virginia for 10 months.
I was also a freelance anchor, reporter, and producer for Prince George’s County CTV-News in Maryland and a producer and host for the Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment (OCTFME). I anchored and hosted other shows such as “SchoolScene” in Fairfax, Virginia, and “The Sound” in Washington DC. I was the host of “Operation Rising Star.” the United States Army Morale, Welfare and Recreation’s annual singing competition for service members and their families for 10 years.
As the In-Game Host for the Commanders, I’m at every home game on the big screen at Commanders Field and I emcee various events for the burgundy and gold. If you enjoy soccer, you can also see me at Audi Field in Washington, DC as on of the Matchday Hosts for the NWSL’s Washington Spirit. I’m also the former In-Arena host for the NBA’s Washington Wizards, the WNBA’s Washington Mystics, and the AFL’s Baltimore Brigade.
As you can probably tell, I love sports.
When I was little I grew up a tomboy playing football with boys. I ran cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track at Brookland Middle and Hermitage High School. I was also a cheerleader at Hermitage. Go Panthers!
My next stop was the University of Richmond where I was a CIGNA Scholar, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Rho Mu Chapter Charter Member, and cheerleader for four years. Then I made it to the “pros” as both an NFL and NBA cheerleader for 11 seasons in the DMV.
And as if that’s not enough on my plate, I also founded two businesses. Sideline Prep provides individual counseling to young women auditioning for NFL/NBA professional dance and cheerleading teams and is a partner of GS Consulting & Communications, Inc. Which is a BPR (Business Process Reengineering), quality and process improvement company.
When I’m not in the community meeting the great people of Richmond, you can find me with my family. I’m an aunt to three nieces and two nephews. Plus I have seven Godchildren.
